Now you are able to make a call through Gmail because of its integration with Google chat. You can even Make a group call in Gmail now.

You can Call whichever person you want to talk with through the Chat Tab. There is no Phone number required at all.

All you and your friend need is an active Google account. Make sure you activate the Chat Tab from settings

When you call your friend it will hear ringing only if your friend installed Gmail on the smartphone.

You can also ring Google space members. They can be connected via Video calls but voice can't be possible with multiple people at once.

After setting up the Chat Tab, You can easily search for people you want to talk with Full Names and Emails.
